Music teacher and private piano lessons in Rome

Alfred DI ROCCO was born in Niagara Falls New York where his father – a student of Artur Friedheim who in turn had studied with Franz Liszt – had a piano school.

After graduating the Manhattan School of Music in New York with a Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano and Composition, Di Rocco studied composition with  Ludmila Ulehla; piano with Mildred Jamison Dassett and ensemble with Harris Danziger and Rachael Weinstock, both members of the NBC Symphony Orchestra under Toscanini and the New York Philharmonic.

He also had four master classes with Igor Stravinsky and two with Nadia Boulanger.

In New York his activities included accompanying classes of George Balanchine as well as working with Bronislava Ninjinsky in Buffalo, New York.

He moved to Rome where he studied privately with Carlo Zecchi.

His teaching experience includes:

– Substitute teaching at the Manhattan School of Music.

– Piano at the Kent School in Kent, Connecticut.

– Piano and Chorus at the original St. Francis School in Rome where his children’s Mass
was performed at St. Peter’s Basilica, the Rieti Basilica and St. Ignatius in Rome.

– Piano at  Marymount International School of Rome.

– He has served as a jurist for many music competitions including the Gina Bachauer in Rome
as well as a music competition to be held in November 2019.

On a lighter side, he has been music consultant to Mariah Carey, Lionel Ritchie, Michael Jackson and for Richard Gere in the film “King David”.

Alfred Di Rocco lives in Rome where he gives private lessons in piano and composition.
